Chrissie C. Thomey She was transferred to the James Bay Survey in 1912 and reached Rupert River late in the season and was of little use to the surveys working in this locality. With the spring breakup of the Rupert River in 1913 (June - July) she was lifted by the ice and left high and dry on her side ashore. She filled with water, but later on she righted and was pumped out. Being badly strained it was doubtful if she could have sailed to Halifax in the fall, even if she had floated out of the river. She was abandoned where she lay, to become the first total casualty in the Service.
